These Turners prints are a snap-shot from his travels, both in the UK and abroad. A special edition because they encapture the work of Turner the artist which was expertly reproduced by the lithographer M.H.Long in 1868.
The original prints were produced as etchings and chromo-lithographs, from as many as fourteen colours.
After Turners death in 1851, the publishers George Rowney produced reproductions from The Turner Bequeath between 1864 and 1888, with the approval of The National Gallery.The Turner collection is now held at The Tate Gallery.
Today, we have re-produced these images as Giclée open edition prints onto 160gsm watercolour paper.
The use of bright strong colours to replicate contrast and light is the hallmark of Turners style, which makes these images such a decorative series of pictures.
